Is your program credentialed?
North Texas Montessori Institute was approved by the American Montessori Society and Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education for the Early Childhood Course in April of 2016. The Institute was approved for the Early Childhood Course by the Texas Workforce Commission, Career Schools and Colleges, Austin, Texas in 2017.
What is the complete application process?
Submit a complete application. This includes:
Completed admission application with $200 application fee
Personal essay describing your academic and professional achievements
Official transcript in the sealed issuing envelope
Three references
Upon review, the Director or Program Coordinator will contact the candidate to schedule an interview.
Do I have to come to North Texas Montessori Institute for my interview?
No, the interview takes place over Zoom.
My degree is from an international college/university. Where do I get an independent transcript evaluation?
AMS and NTMI require the applicant to have a transcript analysis sent directly from one of the evaluators located at this site: http://www.naces.org/members.html.
Who should my letters of recommendation come from?
Recommendations are submitted from an individual that can vouch for your academic and/or professional career. The letter of recommendation should give a sense of who you will be as an Adult Learner and as a professional educator working with children in a Montessori setting.
How long will it be after my interview before I find out if I’m accepted by the program?
Typically, you will receive an admission decision within one week of your interview.
What is a Practicum?
A Practicum (also known as student teaching or internship) consists of, at a minimum, nine consecutive months, five days per week, and a minimum of three hours per day working in a classroom at a Montessori school selected by the Adult Learner in an arrangement that meets the requirement in keeping with the standards of the American Montessori Society and Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.
Do I have to do a Practicum?
The practicum is a requirement of the course.
Can I do my Practicum at the same time as my academic components?
No, the Practicum is a time of practice and application of the information gained during the academic components. There are assignments during this time to continue the learning and growth.
How do I go about finding a Practicum?
Your Practicum Coordinator will assist you (but cannot guarantee a position) in finding a Practicum site that meets the requirements of NTMI, American Montessori Society, and Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.
Where can I work with my AMS Montessori credential?
NTMI graduates are able to work in private Montessori schools all over the world. If an Adult Learner chose to work in a public Montessori school additional state licensing are often needed.
What Financial Aid is available?
The American Montessori Society (AMS) offers scholarships to Adult Learners. To be considered for this scholarship, click here to complete the application process.
Do you offer payment plans?
The Adult Learner will sign an enrollment agreement which will indicate whether payment will be made in full or if a payment plan is necessary.
